How It Works
Get screened for colon cancer the more pleasant way in 4 simple steps.
Request Your Test
You’ll pay a non-refundable $24.95 fee to an independent telehealth provider, OpenLoop, to review your eligibility and determine if Shield is right for you.
Receive Shield Kit
If Shield is right for you, the telehealth provider, OpenLoop, will order your test. You’ll receive a notification and blood collection kit in a few days.
Provide Blood Sample
You'll get a text when it's time to schedule your Shield blood test. Just pick a day and time that works for you at one of our partner labs. After your appointment, your blood sample will be sent to our lab for testing.
View Your Results
You’ll get a text with your Shield test result about two weeks after your blood draw. If your result comes back positive, a licensed provider from OpenLoop will contact you to walk through the result and next steps.

Cost & Coverage
Shield is Medicare-covered
$0 out-of-pocket cost for eligible Medicare Part-B patients*
Shield is also covered for patients receiving Community Care, authorized by the Veterans Health Administration, and TRICARE. If you’re over 45 and not covered by Medicare, your potential out-of-pocket cost could be $1,495. Your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) can be used to pay for the test and cover any insurance copays or deductibles.
Eligible Medicare Fee for Service (FFS) patients will have $0 out-of-pocket cost for Shield.
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) covers the cost of a follow-up colonoscopy after a positive Shield test result for beneficiaries.
